Crickmay masterminded and established the ESKOM central co-ordination and control centre (for ROTRAN) in 2008 to manage and optimise ESKOM’s coal supply of 144 MT per annum from 69 mines to its 13 power stations. This involved monitoring and directing 4,343 trucks and 14 trains to ensure the correct blend of coal reached the correct power station as required, whilst reducing overloading, road accidents and congestion, optimising payloads and routing and monitoring of stock piles.

Crickmay is proud to report that during its management hereof, there was not a single load shedding event in South Africa, and that ESKOM doubled the quantity of coal delivered to its power stations without increasing the road and rail fleet used.
